Breastfeeding Help

Help Lines: call for advice from a WIC breastfeeding counselor, during working hours. Please call the WIC office where you usually get WIC:

Peer Counselors: We select WIC moms who loved their breastfeeding experience and train them to help others. Peer counselors teach classes, help WIC moms with breastfeeding concerns, and provide support over the phone and even in the hospital.
Lactation Specialists: Board certified lactation specialists with strong clinical experience are stationed at each WIC office. They counsel mothers and advise WIC staff. Most WIC dietitians and nutrition counselors have participated in intensive training in breastfeeding support.

Breast pumps: WIC offers free manual and electric breast pumps for high-risk babies who must be separated from your baby, and for moms who are working and going to school. Ask your WIC counselor or call the helpline above.
