Voting Rights for People Experiencing Homelessness

People who are experiencing homelessness CAN register and VOTE in the November 5th Elections!

You are eligible to vote in Alameda County if you are:

  • A U.S. citizen
  • A resident of Alameda County
  • 18 years or older on Election Day (Nov 5, 2024)
  • Not currently in prison or not currently on parole for a felony conviction (more information for people with criminal history here)

Key Dates for Voters:

October 21, 2024:

Last Day to register to vote. Register online at registertovote.ca.gov, at the registrar of voters, or with a mail-in paper voter registration form. To register to vote you only need the following:

  • Your mailing address – to receive your mail in ballot. This can be a shelter or drop-in center, friend or relative.
  • Your "residence address" this can be a shelter, street crossroad, or camp address.
  • Your birthdate
  • Either the last four digits of your social security number OR your California ID/Drivers License number
October 26-November 5th

Forgot to register? YOU CAN STILL VOTE!  Go in person to an Alameda County Voting Center to register and vote at the same time!

October 26, 2024:  Opening of Alameda County Voting Centers for in-person voting or ballot drop-off. Voting Center Locations listed here.
November 5, 2025: Election Day!  You can mail in your ballot, drop off a ballot or register and vote at ballot at a Voting Center any time until 8pm Tuesday Nov. 5th.
