Clean Slate Clinics
The Alameda County Public Defender’s Office and East Bay Community Law Center jointly offer weekly Clean Slate clinics in Hayward (2-4 p.m. Tuesdays) and Oakland (9-11 a.m. Thursdays) for persons seeking to dismiss a conviction; apply for felony reduction or early termination of probation; seal juvenile records; correct errors in criminal background reports; or get guidance on employment denied due to a criminal background.

Prostate Health Support Group for African American Men
This free support group is open to any man who has prostate health issues, including prostate cancer, at any stage of the journey. Evening meetings are held the 1st and 3rd Tuesday of the month from 6:30 - 8:30 p.m. at Studio One Art Center, 365 45th Street, Oakland. (Studio One is located behind Oakland Technical High School between Broadway & Shafter.)
Free Support Group
Annual San Quentin Health Fair
Held each spring at the San Quentin Correctional Facility in conjunction with the TRUST for the Development of African-American Men, this annual health fair offers incarcerated men health education and a variety of health screenings. These include information on STDs, asthma, alcohol and drug abuse, nutrition, and diabetes. Also available are cholesterol screenings, glucose tests, blood pressure checks, body mass index (BMI) calculations, yoga demonstrations, chiropractic services, and health vans providing general health exams.

Rights of Passage
The Urban Male Health Initiative has partnered with Positive Communication Practices (PCP), using their Rights of Passage program to help boys and young men improve their life skills, social competence, and avoid high-risk behaviors. This model has generated many transforming experiences among participants.

Challenge Day
Challenge Day is a unique workshop designed to help stop the violence and alienation that youth face every day. This experiential program targets students in grades 7-11, school staff and family members, giving them tools to tear down the walls of separation. In conjunction with the Alameda County Probation Department and the Department of Education, the Urban Male Health Initiative brought Challenge Day to Camp Sweeney.
