Our Vision
Reducing violence in Alameda County requires a coordinated approach with prevention, intervention, and community transformation strategies that evolve and respond to the needs of residents. To continue strengthening existing work in Alameda County, future efforts should prioritize the following:
- Intervention: Fund and implement community violence intervention strategies to interrupt cycles of violence and support those at highest risk.
- Prevention: Support prevention efforts that promote healing, create opportunity, and shift norms around firearm use.
- Transformation: Work with communities to eliminate structural inequities and promote peaceful and healthy families and communities.
Providing violence prevention, intervention, and community transformation services reinforces Alameda County’s Vision 2036. Efforts will help achieve the 10X goals for a Crime-Free County, Health for All, and Eliminate Poverty & Hunger in support of the shared visions for a Thriving & Resilient Population and Safe & Livable Communities.
