East Oakland Building Healthy Communities: Health Access

East Oakland Building Healthy Communities: Health Access

Building Healthy Communities is a 10-year effort hosted by The California Endowment to support the development of communities where kids and youth are healthy, safe and ready to learn. Among the 14 communities throughout California, ACHPP supports the East Oakland Building Healthy Communities Workgroup for Health Access and Economic Opportunities.

The Health Access workgroup aims to increase access to quality health service that is culturally competent and trauma informed. Additional targeted changes include increase in early access to primary medical, dental, eye care, mental health services and pharmacies; increased access to health promotion, health education, and early intervention community strategies; and ultimately a seamless continuum integrating medical services with health promotion, education and early intervention strategies.
