Where can you and your family get vaccinated?

You should get a flu vaccine every year because immunity from the flu vaccine weakens over time and the different strains contained in the vaccine change year to year. This year’s vaccine will protect you against H1N1, as well as two or three other virus strains. Adults and children 9 years of age and older will need only one dose of the vaccine.

Children 6 months through age 8 may need one or two doses this year, depending on what doses they received last year.

There are many places to get a flu vaccine: your doctor’s office and flu clinics at Kaiser, public health nursing clinics, senior centers, drugstores and grocery stores. For more information on flu clinics try:

Who should check with their physician before getting a flu shot?

• anyone with a severe allergy to eggs
• anyone who has ever had an onset of Guillain-Barré Syndrome within 6 weeks after getting a flu vaccine
• anyone who has ever had a severe reaction to a flu vaccine
• anyone who is moderately to severely ill with a fever

Note about FluMist Nasal Spray:

The nasal spray vaccine is available during the 2021-22 influenza season. LAIV4, FluMist Quadrivalent is licensed for persons aged 2 through 49 years of age. Here is a summary of the 2021-22 influenza recommendations by the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices.
