Clinician Guidance

Zika Virus, an arboviral disease, is a nationally notifiable disease. Health care providers are requested to report Zika cases confirmed by commercial diagnostic testing to ACPHD immediately by phone.

Testing is available through some commercial laboratories and through the public health laboratory. For information on which route to use, and how to order tests, follow the guidelines outlined on our Specimen Submission page.

Read the CDPH Zika Virus FAQs for Healthcare Providers. See our Tools and Tookits (page for materials for clinicians. Visit the CDC’s Zika Training for Healthcare Providers for helpful videos and webcasts.
