Medi-Cal

Medi-Cal can help eligible low-income women pay for the prenatal care and delivery. Undocumented immigrants can apply for pregnancy-only coverage. You can find out more about Medi-Cal from the California Department of Health Services web site.

Some Medi-Cal providers can issue eligible pregnant women a temporary Medi-Cal card at the time of their first appointment. This is called the Presumptive Eligibility or PE Program. You will the need to go through the Medi-Cal enrollment process while using your temporary PE card to receive prenatal care.

Are you under 21?

You may be able to get free, confidential health care services through Medi-Cal’s Minor Consent Program. Eligibility for services is determined on the based on the youth's income and resources, not their parents'. For more information see: What is Medi-Cal Minor Consent

Medi-Cal Access Program (MCAP)

Women who are uninsured or underinsured and do not meet income guidelines for Medi-Cal, may qualify for MCAP. MCAP offers affordable prenatal and maternity insurance for middle-income pregnant women, and health insurance for their babies through Healthy Families program.
