Trauma Systems

The Alameda County Trauma System Plan was approved by the State of California and implemented in January of 1987. The purpose of the trauma system, as written in 1985, was to assure optimum preparation, response, and definitive care for the people that incur critical traumatic injuries within Alameda County. The goal remains unchanged. The many changes influencing the health care delivery system in the Unites States over the last fourteen years have affected the trauma system in the County. Yet, the fundamental components of the trauma system design remain intact and continue to meet the needs of the residents and visitors to Alameda County.
